Once you have been diagnosed with SARS, there is no need for you to go to a corner and cry all day long because there are still some treatments that can help to cure this dreaded disease. However, you should know that SARS, or also known as Severe Acute Respiratory System, can’t be cured by taking antibiotics alone because it is caused by a virus. You should not lose hope though because in spite of the fact that it is an unfortunate situation to be in, there is still hope.

There are a couple of therapeutic treatments that can help someone suffering from SARS to feel and get better. In some cases, antibiotic and antiviral therapy worked to fight the virus. However, there is no assurance that it will work for everyone with SARS. In China, Human Gamma Immunoglobulin is one of the treatments that they use to fight off the virus. It will not work for all SARS victims though because it will only work if the patient is on the initial or preliminary stage of the disease.

On the event though that you are on the final stage of the disease, you should still have faith and not give up because you can still live your life to the fullest even if you have SARS.

A virus known as SARS-CoV found in corona virus genes have been found to cause sever respiratory syndrome. These types of viruses can infect animals and some are known to cause the common cold in people.

As when a person who has a common cold coughs or sneezes the SARS virus is spread into the air around them and anyone else near them. The virus can survive up to six hours on such things as tissues, surfaces that they land on and hands while the virus is wet and as long as three hours when the droplets dry.

SARS is a contagious virus and symptoms may occur from two to ten days after a person has been infected, it is also possible for a person to become reinfected. The symptoms can include a fever generally higher than 100.4 degrees, chills, muscles aching, headache and coughing. Other symptoms may be a sore throat, dizziness, nausea, difficulty breathing and various respiratory problems.

Various test such as chest X-rays, a complete blood count or chest CT scan may be used to diagnose SARS.
Treatments can include antibiotics, large doses of steroids to aid in reducing inflammation of the lungs. Anyone who has been diagnosed with SARS should be hospitalized in isolation immediately and treated for the problem.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome is a viral infection of extreme concern caused by the SARS-corona virus. First discovered in Asia in 2003 and causing a widespread, alarming outbreak, it is caused by contact between those who are infected and others, usually through the transfer of saliva or mucous. Highly contagious, its symptoms include high fever, problems with coughing and breathing, digestive problems, and fatigue. Most patients develop pneumonia as a result, the biggest concern for the disease. The illness has been treated with a combination of powerful antibiotics and steroids, as well as oxygen. While there is still no cure for severe acute respiratory syndrome, there is hope within the medical community. A vaccine is in the experimental stage in China with a positive succes rate. In addition, scientists continue to test different antibiotics and steroids in hopes of finding effective treatment options while waiting for a vaccine. The most important thing individuals can do is to prevent being infected by conscientious hand washing and keeping surfaces disinfected. When dealing with anyone with severe acute respiratory syndrome, non-infected people should wear gloves, masks to cover their face, and outer covering. Gloves and masks should be disposed of and clothing washed.

Those who have suffered severe acute respiratory syndrome know how difficult it is. Caused by the SARS-corona virus, it causes such symptoms as fever, sore throat, coughing, digestive problems, and shortness of breath. It is transferred by contact with an infected person, such as by coughing and sneezing on someone else and spreading the virus. It can be diagnosed with chest x-rays, blood testing, and according to symptoms. Antibiotics, steroids, and oxygen are all possible treatments for severe acute respiratory syndrome. Often negative pressure rooms are used in treatment of patients and outside contact is restricted with great care taken by healthcare providers to avoid spread of the illness. In regards to a cure, the Chinese have developed a vaccine in the testing stage with a promising degree of success. While testing continues on the most effective treatment alternatives, a definitive cure is still in the experimental stage. Hopefully, scientists will have a break-through in the near future. In the mean time, people can do their best ot prevent spread of Severe acute respiratory syndrome by proactive choices such as regular hand washing, using tissues when sick or coughing into one’s sleeve instead of the hands, and maintaining good health.
